A Missional Minute
"Let the same mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus..." (Phil. 2:5) This verse from the epistle reading a few weeks ago begins the famous "hymn" to Christ in Paul's letter to the Philippians. The hymn has an almost majestic rhythm as it declares the great mystery of the incarnation of Christ and His profound love physically manifested through the divine union with our humanity. It also calls us to see in Christ a humility and servant attitude to which we ourselves are called - what we are meant to be shaped by. What we often miss, however, is that it is a great narrative of God's mission to his creation and particularly to fallen and suffering humanity. To profess ourselves Christians is to become members of the Body of Christ; and to be members of Christ is to become a part of the mission of Christ. While our salvation comes by the grace of God, there is no sense in which we simply receive without being called into action in a life that bears witness to Jesus. The shaping of our lives in active love and humility toward one another and toward all those we encounter is far more than an ethical choice - it is about participation in God and therefore in God's mission to and in the world. |

A request for healing testimoniesfrom St. Luke's Calgary The Healing Conference planned for October this year was cancelled because of the pandemic. The folks at St. Luke’s, Calgary are working hard to produce a FREE eBook containing testimonies of Divine Healing and inspiring stories of God’s provision and goodness that will bless many during this time of uncertainty. With all the pandemic restrictions being imposed and the need to reassure those who are struggling with fear... others who are feeling isolated... and many who are anxious about the future... the eBook will be a well-spring of encouragement! And can you imagine the joy of those who will hear for the first time that Jesus still heals today! Would you consider sharing your testimony to bless someone? You are invited to send your testimony now. You will also be invited in October to download the eBook and share with others. We are also asking for volunteers to transcribe written testimonies and to help with the formatting of the document. Deacon Keith Bird St. Luke's For more infomation visit:
