Missional Minute
Time is a funny thing. Sometimes it goes quickly and sometimes it drags on for what seems like forever. Time helps us mark important moments and remember the anniversaries of events that are important to us. Time is also vital to Mission. The time we spend with someone can be valuable in learning what ways the Gospel might speak into their lives. Keeping on time can show others respect for their time. Remembering special times in others lives can show our love and care for them. A simple and valuable tool in Mission is to consider the time we establish for our online worship. Does your parish have a clearly stated time for online worship times? I mean a time listed clearly for VISITORS to be able to see so they can join you? Have you taken the time to consider how a visitor might easily access your worship? The next time you have a chance, take a look at your Facebook, Zoom, Vimeo information that you are sending out. If I were a visitor, would I be able to find the time of your worship, study or devotional time easily? Time – important to Mission for a variety of reasons. Thanks for yours. |

Cursillo EventsUltreya and AGM meetings via Zoom The pandemic that has kept us from holding our monthly Ultreyas and Cursillo Weekends has made us change how we approach these events. It has been decided to try holding Ultreyas online, using Zoom. On Friday, January 8 at 7:00 pm, we will be holding our first Zoom Ultreya. This is an opportunity for Cursillistas from all parts of the Diocese to come together. We will be having music, a Witness Talk, a Spiritual Response and Floating Group Reunions online. Please click here to request the Zoom link. On Friday, February 12, we will hold the AGM via Zoom. Secretariat members are reminded to submit their annual reports to the Secretary at their earliest convenience. The positions of Pre-Cursillo Coordinator and Fourth Day Chair need to be filled. The Diocesan representative to CACs also is now vacant. Please prayerfully consider if you are called to this ministry. At this time of suspension of Weekends, we ask that Cursillistas consider support for this ministry by way of donation and prayer. |

Changes in the Diocesan Office: The Rev. Deacon Marcus Herrel has been in the office as Interim Comptroller since March, 2020. On January 11, he will be stepping down. We cannot thank him enough for all he has done in guiding us financially through the days of Covid. The Diocese Office is pleased to announce our new Comptroller, Blake Bolton, who begins his duties on January 11. We look forward to working with him in the days to come.
Our Archbishop's services and events: Archbishop Greg is available to participate via Zoom in your parish vestry, council, and online services if requested. Even though he may not be able to gather in person with you, he welcomes the opportunity to share in worship or to meet groups of any and all ages, to listen to your stories and faith, and to engage in conversation about our experiences and learnings from this journey through the COVID-19 pandemic. However, equally important to our ability to build resilience is the ability to move towards meaningful actions when faced with stressful events. Join us as we explore the many ways that we can use community organizing principles to make a shift that moves us beyond reaching out to connect people in times of need to deepening connection by equipping people to build their mental health resiliency through meaningful action. Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2021January 18 to 25, 2021 The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an annual ecumenical celebration. Christians around the world are invited to pray for the unity of all Christians, to reflect on scripture together, to participate in jointly-organized ecumenical services, and to share fellowship. The 2021 theme – Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit (John 15:5-9) – calls us to pray and to work for reconciliation and unity in the church, with our human family, and with all of creation. Drawing on the Gospel image of vine and branches, it invites us to nourish unity with God and with one another through contemplative silence, prayer, and common action. Grafted into Christ the vine as many diverse branches, may we bear rich fruit and create new ways of living, with respect for and communion with all of creation. Resources for participating in this week of prayer can be found here. |
Kuriakos Camp InformationSummer 2021 Even in the bleak mid-winter, we can believe in the life-changing power of camp, and it's needed now more than ever. Programs will proceed when we are confident that we can provide them safely, but we're planning for a great summer. To find next summer's programs and to register online, click here. |
