Missional MinuteBeing Missional during Covid Last week, I spent each morning reading and re-reading the second letter of Paul to Timothy. The four chapters, covering two full pages, are rich in advice for our Christian lives. Paul is imprisoned, literally chained up, but he is still spreading the Good News from his prison cell. He is encouraging, edifying and instructing his friend Timothy with words of hope and comfort. We may not be chained up, but we sometimes feel these days that we are isolated and “locked down” as restrictions on our lives are imposed from authorities. But Paul reminds us, at all times and especially in these times, to “…proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching.” (2 Tim. 4:2) Although we face isolation, and our reaching out to others may be online or on the phone, we are still called by the Lord to be persistent, to be the voice of teaching and encouragement. Is there someone on your heart or mind that you need to be reaching out to? Is there someone who is isolated who needs to hear the Good News through you? “As for you, ...do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.” (2 Tim. 4:5) This is not a suggestion; this is what we are called to do. Even in our isolation. Even in these unfavorable times. Let us go forth to love and serve our Lord. |

Anglican Lutheran National Worship Conference (NWC)July 6 to 7, 2021 via Zoom We are writing to invite your participation and support of the upcoming NWC, “Disruption and Grace: Learning Edges in Liminal Times”, July 6-7, 2021. As planners we want this online NWC to provide an important opportunity for those involved in worship and music in our churches and ministries to be able to listen, reflect and talk thoughtfully together about the significant disruption and grace we have all experienced during this pandemic and to glean new learnings and possibilities together. The NWC will include opening and closing worship, the conferral of the Companion of the Worship Arts to the one Anglican and one Lutheran recipient announced last spring in recognition of their local and national contributions to worship in our churches, and lastly, in this 20th anniversary year of the full communion partnership of the ACC and ELCIC, and July 7 being the day of signing the Waterloo Declaration and the NWC being the first national full communion event of our churches, we are hoping to also celebrate this anniversary milestone together.
