Missional Minute
Even though many of our clergy are taking well-deserved holidays over the summer months, our churches are still open, and there are clergy and lay people who are stepping in to cover services and to share their gifts of time and ministry. Rather than taking summer Sunday mornings off, we urge you to come to church to support these dedicated servants. You may wish to explore another parish, try on a different service style, and stretch your faith routine a bit. Wherever you decide to worship, know that God is there, ready to meet you, and the door is always open. |
Diocesan Announcements
Clergy Movements: We are pleased to have The Rev. Bryan Beveridge in the Diocese for the summer months. He has been assisting with services in the Canmore area. We also announce the departure of The Rev. Deacon Tom Hubschmid to The Diocese of Ottawa. He has been offered a curacy with St. Thomas, Ottawa beginning September 1. We wish him all the best as he continues to grow in his ministry while being able to complete his thesis for his Ph.D.
Ordinations: Archbishop Greg is pleased to announce that, God willing, he will ordain to the Diaconate Daniel Joseph, interning currently at St. Leonard-on-the-Hill, Red Deer, and Christopher Wall, of St. Aldhelm, Vulcan. Daniel will be a Transitional Deacon, while Christopher will be a Vocational Deacon. The Service of Ordination will take place at The Cathedral Church of the Redeemer, Calgary, on Sunday, September 4, at 7:00 pm. Please pray for Daniel and Christopher as they prepare for their new ministries. Color for this Service will be Red. |

Phishing Scams Happening Again
Once again, there have been several phishing attempts reported to the Diocesan Office. If you receive a request from Archbishop Greg, a clergy person or one of our staff asking for your help or the purchase of gift cards, and you are suspicious, please do not respond and delete the email. Phishing emails may look extremely authentic. Here are some tips on how to protect your confidential personal information: · Do not click on links OR open attachments in emails or messages from people that you do not know. · Remember that the Archbishop or the staff would never ask you for assistance in this way. · Look out for spelling or grammatical errors. · Check the sender’s email address or the Reply email address. Is this address the same as you would usually see from this person or organization? · Be cautious with any unexpected messages. When in doubt, delete. These emails are not harmful to your computer, just annoying. |
