Niagara School for Missional LeadershipNew Courses Being Offered As we enter this season of harvest and new beginnings in ministry, the Niagara School for Missional Leadership is grateful to walk alongside you in equipping leaders across Canada. We are delighted to share our upcoming fall learning opportunities, beginning in just a couple of weeks. Since all courses are offered online via Zoom, there is still plenty of space available - and everyone is welcome to register. Fall registration is now open for the following courses: Christian Foundations I - with Rob Jones, explores God's Mission for the world. This course brings a deeper understanding of the "story-so-far" and God's nature and character in a relational context. Anglican Polity 101: How We Do Things Around Here - with Bishop Susan Bell, guides students through an introduction to Anglican History and an exploration of the Anglican Church of Canada. Pastoral Care Fundamentals: Presence, Paying Attention, and Prayer - with Archdeacon Terry DeForest, helps students to build a range of pastoral care skills, teaching practices focused on being present and paying active attention to others' needs, providing the foundations to accompany them prayerfully. NSML will also be launching a two-year certificate course in Mission Practice with our diocesan community missioner, Canon Ian Mobsby. This course will explore the foundations for mission practice, looking at the Anglican and ecumenical understandings of mission. It will also explore mixed ecology, fresh expressions, and church planting in its first year. In Year 2, the course will focus on developing the proficiency for mission practice, guiding students through new ways of bringing loving service to the communities. For more infomation visit:

Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse that delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children around the world in Jesus' name with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. This is a tangible expression of God's love through the hands of local ministry partners as they share the Good News of Jesus Christ, God's Greatest Gift. In 2024, over 11.9 million shoebox gifts were collected worldwide. Of those, 436,290 came from Canada. Many shoebox recipients participate in our 12-lesson discipleship program called The Greatest Journey. Children learn who Jesus is, how to have a relationship with Him, and how to tell others about Him. After completing The Greatest Journey, children attend a graduation celebration where they receive a certificate and a colorful illustrated New Testament in their own language. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is shared with all attending the event. Shoebox materials will begin shipping in September. Each box requires a label on the top, indicating if it is for a boy or a girl and their age (2-4 years, 5-9 years, or 10-14 years). Shoeboxes will be collected from November 17 to 23, 2025 at a designated drop off location (on their website). Operation Christmas Child delivers not only the joy of what for many children is their first gift ever but also gives them a tangible expression of God's love. |

Diocesan Newsletter Not Reaching Some Subscribers
Our Newsletter is created through our Diocesan website produced by a Christian website development company called Tithely. There appears to be a technical issue between Tithely and subscribers with Shaw email addresses. If you (or someone you know) has subscribed and are not getting our Newsletter, which goes out twice a month, please contact the Diocese Office (diocese@calgary.anglican.ca) to either notify the office of this problem, or provide a different email address to which we can send your Newsletter. In some cases, re-adding the address has resolved the problem. We want to be able to have our communications get to your inbox in order to keep you informed of our latest news. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue. |

We ask for prayers for Barbara, Maureen, Karen, Ruth and James, Kate, Rosemary, Patricia, Rob, Alan, Gloria, Joan, James, Doug, Beth and Janis; - for those who have died and those who mourn; - for the poor, the homeless, and the needy in our communities; - for our Indigenous brothers and sisters, and their leaders in our diocese and country; - for refugees, remembering those fleeing regimes around the world. Request a prayer: Send prayer requests to ctubman@calgary.anglican.ca to let us know how we can pray for you. We will only use first names which will be removed after two or three weeks. We will also pray for you during our regular Chapel services each week. Please ensure that you have permission from those whose names you are submitting for prayer, and that they understand their name will be made public to all who subscribe to the Newsletter. |
