BOW VALLEY CHORUS
Presents
HANDEL’S MESSIAH!
The 50 member Bow Valley Chorus is thrilled to continue its Christmas tradition of performing Messiah, George Frideric Handel’s choral masterpiece. This awe-inspiring music was composed in 1741 and continues to this day, to be regarded as one of the world’s most popular musical works!
Bow Valley Chorus, under the inspirational, passionate and award-winning direction of John Goulart, will be accompanied by full orchestra, along with soloists Lauren Woods (soprano), Kassandra Schantz (mezzo) Steven Morton (tenor) and Paul Grindlay (bass).
Handel's Messiah was the first of a new musical form called oratorio and may be appreciated on many levels, since it contains hummable tunes, rousing choruses, virtuoso arias, many memorable moments, and deeply spiritual texts. It is an oratorio, which apart from a couple of purely instrumental movements, consists of Bible passages from the Old and New Testaments sung by solo voices (with an occasional duet) or chorus, with orchestral accompaniment.
Treat your friends, family and yourself, to the gift of music this Christmas season.
This is the only large scale performance of the Messiah this Christmas season in the Calgary Area!
Join Bow Valley Chorus for their uplifting and glorious Messiah…..Hallelujah!
