On this page we have provided the outline for discernment toward orders or being ordained a vocational deacon or priest.

We are also encouraging those considering the Monastic or Contemplative life to consider this process.

Please note that the discernment process begins with prayer. We are all called to something within our baptismal ministry. This particular process is intended to help those who want to prayerfully explore with others whether their particular call is to ordained life or something else. When entering the discernment process in the diocese you need to know there should be no rushing in the process and that it can take up to 3 years to complete.

The process begins with a letter of commendation from your priest addressed to the Bishop. For the outline of what this letter should include please email discernment@calgary.anglican.ca

Above you will find a video on discernment to religious life.

Below you will see links to another video on discernment generally.
