Confirmation - Growing in FaithSt. Augustine, Calgary - October 27 On October 27, 2024, the Most Rev. Gregory Kerr-Wilson, Archbishop of Calgary came to St. Augustine’s Church to confirm the parishioners’ children into the Anglican Church, acknowledging their growth in faith. Through group studies and reflection, these young individuals have cultivated a stronger foundation in Christian teachings and explored the intersection of faith and daily life. This event has unified the parishioners in gratitude and anticipation, fostering a deeper sense of connection and purpose within the Church and the community. Preparation for confirmation has involved participation to group study sessions guided by Rev. Willy Galas, a supply priest in the Anglican Diocese of Calgary. With shared commitments, parents, candidates for confirmation, and Rev. Willy agreed on three sessions to be completed over the course of three Saturdays. These young parishioners attended interactive classes lasting to 4-5 hours with each session incorporating inspiring conversations, meaningful learning, and fellowship through shared meals and stories. Upon completion of the three sessions, a retreat was held on September 14, 2024, to nurture and enrich the faith journey of young individuals undergoing confirmation. Parents were invited to participate and were asked to compose a thoughtful letter to their child, sharing their Christian faith story, their evolving understanding of the gospel, and their efforts to live out their values in their daily lives. Thank you Father Willy Galas and the Parish Council of St. Augustine Church for the experience! |

St. Michael & All Angels, StrathmoreBanners Available St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church in Strathmore has long enjoyed the display of liturgical banners lovingly created by parish members of the past. While our current worship setting means we cannot utilize these banners, we would like them to see regular use somewhere. Therefore we are offering them to any parish who will put them to use in worship. Banners are suspended on wooden dowels mostly 38” long, with a few extending to 48”. Individual photos of each banner can be viewed at Banners. For more information, please contact Rev. Malcolm Kern or ph: (587) 727-0649. In addition to the banners, we also have a four drawer legal size lateral file cabinet (although it can be configured to hold letter size files as well). It is constructed of a heavy grade grey steel, without a lock. Free to anyone who will pick it up in Strathmore. For more information, please contact our People’s Warden, Jay Beaman, or ph: (403) 983-9384. |
