Pilar is the Executive Officer and would be happy to help you with any of the following things or any other questions you may have:
- Facilitating the ministry of parishes whether that have to do with special services, clergy support, corporation/warden support, buildings, finance, legal support
- Helping you take a funding request to Property or Admin and Finance Committees.
- Helping you find documents you need to make those grant/loan requests.
- You or your parish bring items to Diocesan Council or discerning the correct committee or route for your query
- Directing you to other very competent staff who have expertise in an area (or to others in the Diocese who may help you)
- Disernment process for those prayerfully discerning a call to ordination
- including gathering with parish discernment groups, organizing clergy groups, coordinating chaplains, arrangements for other 'assignments' required and teaching pieces during the discernment process to support those discerning a call.
- Search processes for parishes that have a vacancy in a clergy position.
- helping the search group understand the process, walking with them through creating a profile, advertising, interviewing and recommending a candidate to the Bishop.
- guiding those applying for positions to understand needed documents, timelines and other queries in process.
- Employment questions: whether that be regarding clergy or lay. Finding clarity for you around contracts, salary, adjusting or updating a job description/role, seeking clarity on terminations and how to manage these kinds of things within the Alberta employment law.
- Property: Bring your questions to the commitee about major projects or renovations. She will also help you with questions around insurance, rental agreements for outside renters and maintenance.
- working alonside the Property Assistant to help get logistics/permissions/clarifications and helps for parishes who are dealing with property concerns like mold/asbestos/flooding etc.
- Legal: There is a number of areas where the legal questions can occur.
- Immigration - for those who may have clergy moving from other countries
- Employment - for clarification and support in more difficult scenarios or for contracts and documentation
- Trusts - if there is a trust fund the parish holds, we can help get clarity on the practicalities of using these
- Financial - This can come in the area of clarity around audits, charitable returns, budgeting or liability
- Clergy
- organizing the Clergy Retreat and Clergy Conference each year including the venue, food, registrations, fees and guest speaker invitation and logistics
Special Diocesan Events - Helping organize and coordinate for the Diocese to host events such as Provincial and General Synods in the diocese as well as other groups and individuals who have asked for us to host them.
Missional Coaching - Coach and a trainer of coaches for all the workshops provided around the Diocese
- Office manager for the Diocesan office. This means keeping track of contracts for the Diocesan staff members. Also tracking holidays, help keep us all on the same page and moving in the same direction!
National and Provincial liasion
- helping to coordinate communication as needed and facilitate as needed between Provincial and General Synod
